The initiative

Terra & Tech | Innovation for the Wine Industry explores european innovations to identify new solutions and technologies for the Italian Wine Industry.
The initiative aims to accelerate the transition process to a new way of farming, producing and selling wine sustainably. It wants to facilitate the start of experimentation of the best candidate solutions with producers in the Terra & Tech network. Applying for the initiative is free of charge.

Focus Areas

Innovation challenges in Vineyard

• Automate the processes of irrigation, harvesting or other related processing
• Facilitating data collection and analysis
• Introducing biotechnology in the vineyard
• Facilitating climate monitoring and forecast analysis on producer plots
• Introducing new advanced systems for water collection and management

Innovation challenges in Winery

• Facilitating energy monitoring and consumption in the facility
• Facilitating real-time monitoring of the vinification process
• Introducing innovative systems to produce energy on site
• Introducing innovative materials for thermal and acoustic insulation and other uses

Innovation challenges in Marketing

• Introducing platforms to facilitate sales and logistics management
• Present new tools for business promotion (e.g. brand promotion and brand storytelling, customer awareness)
• Facilitating the monitoring of the wine market and emerging trends
• Introducing solutions for managing unsold inventory

In general

• Facilitate the recruitment of specialized staff for vineyard, winery and marketing activities
• Facilitate staff training and participation in training courses
• Introduce systems to increase staff safety during vineyard and winery activities
• Introduce new solutions and systems to facilitate the recycling and reuse of waste
• Introduce new business management systems that facilitate integration with IT systems

Be a promoter of the future: share your innovative vision with us!
Submit your idea or project related to one of the initiative’s themes by January 27, 2025.
Click on “Submit Your Application” and access the appropriate form. The collection of proposals will be managed entirely on the dedicated platform.
The application should contain data on the proposer, a brief description of the proposal, technical development, delivery timeline, and a cost-benefit analysis.
